MERRY CHRISTMAS!
from the Utah Lyme Disease Association

We had a fantastic end of year celebration on Dec. 4th.
Everyone agrees it's wonderful to participate in a Lyme Disease Support Group!

Thank You! to the Utah College of Massage in Lindon. We loved our massages!!!! What a wonderful treat. We're looking forward to next year's party.

Thank You! to Hilary Allen and Don Swan for our doTerra Mood Matrix charts and the wonderful hand massages! Our moods are a complex interplay of emotional and physical components, especially with Lyme Disease! Thank you again for your product drawing. There were so many that won, I can't remember all of the names.

Thank you! to everyone that brought treats to share! What a feast we had :)

We had two new people at the meeting. Every month we have someone new! It's amazing how this group has grown over the last 1 1/2 years. Thank you to Marilyn Aiken and
Scott & Julie Everson for all the work getting this group going.

Classroom A -
Nutrition Class ~ Rife Machine Demonstration ~ Supplement Compass
Remember - Kids/Teens are invited to particpate, too. [*Ü* This is intended to let kids/teens that are old enough to communicate and express their feelings about having the disease or living with parent(s) that have it…it’s not for babysitting purposes-thank you]

Discussions lead by Jenny Bezzant and Susan Ossola.

*Nutrition Class - Jenny will teach what are the best foods to eat for those with Lyme Disease and what foods to avoid. This is a good reminder for everyone especially during the upcoming holidays! Samples to taste...mmm mmm! Everyone that would like to, please bring a nutritious snack to share. Kind of like a Potluck Snack Bar. Dark Chocolate included, of course! [We had a fun time with all of the Dark Chocolate that Chrystal shared with us last month *Ü*]

*Rife Machine Demonstration - Ever wonder what a Rife machine is and how it works. Steve Baugh has a great machine called a Doug Coil and it is the most powerful machine of its type out there. He would be happy to discuss how it works at the meeting, but it weighs over 75 lbs. so he won't be able to bring it. He'll have lots of great pictures and share how it works; how to determine what frequencies to use, how long treatments should be, how often to do treatments and how you know if the treatment is working. Steve is bringing hand outs, too. He'll also explain how rife machines came about and how someone discovered they can help lyme patients.

*Have you heard about the Compass? Jessica Finch will show us how this Compass can determine what type of Supplements your body needs. Most interesting!

Any questions/suggestions, please call or email me.
Thanks so much!!

We are pleased to have Victoria Sucher, N.D. from Provo come and share her knowledge and expertise about Chronic Lyme Disease.

You won't want to miss this!! Come join us and please bring anyone from your personal support group as Dr. Sucher will be answering questions and have straight answers about Chronic Lyme Disease.

**KIDS CORNER** This is new to the Lyme Support Meetings. There are many kids who have Lyme Disease and need support, too. There are many kids who have parents with Lyme Disease and need support, too.

Classroom B is where the 'kids/teens' will hang out. They can talk, play their DSi's, play with toys, color, share their cell phone numbers, facebook accts., etc. There will probably be varying ages. We'll try this and see how it works. We'll have some older kids help man the room and I'll be right there, too. This is intended to let kids/teens that are old enough to communicate and express their feelings about having the disease or living with parent(s) that have it…it’s not for babysitting purposes-thank you. Parents will need to provide any 'toys' and/or snacks.

We will also be saying 'Thank You' to Julie & Scott Everson for all their effort in behalf of the Lyme Support Group. They are moving soon to Arizona.

Any questions/suggestions, please call or email me.

Thanks so much!!

No Lyme Support Meeting today! It’s been changed to Sat. June 12th 3pm-5pm.

FYI- No date set for upcoming Lyme Awareness event.

Many in the group want to hold it in Lehi City, where Lyme has had some media attention.

I called Thanksgiving Point. Prices range from $3,000.-$5,000. just for the rental of facility. The process to ask them to donate the facility for a charitable function is a process…maybe get started now for next May 2011.

Any news about using Noni in Provo?

I have called and emailed Lehi councilwoman, Kaye Collins, several times. Have not heard back, yet. Lehi City has a huge park facility called Legacy. It might be more affordable to hold it there. Lehi Days is the week of June 21st-26th, so that week won’t work. Does anyone in the ‘group’ know Kaye or would be able to contact her about this?

Other possible dates for Lyme Event are July 10th, July 17th, July 31st [July 3rd and July 24th are holidays].

Any other suggestions?

The postponement of Utah’s 1st Lyme Disease Awareness Picnic was a big disappointment. However, we can’t let this good endeavor die. After all, the spirochete that’s in everyone isn’t dying!! We need to press forward and continue to help get the word out. I contacted the Lyme Disease Association* in New Jersey to get their brochures. They can send up to 200 Free brochures to you, about 4 different types, [I got the variety pack]. Anything above 200 there is a shipping cost. I’ve been handing them out to family, school teachers, administration, scouts, anyone that will associate with my son. *www.lymediseaseassociation.org

I’ve contacted several celebrity charitable organizations here in Utah. I’m hoping to hear back from at least one of them! If not, I’ll contact them all again. I’m going to ask Christine Jacobsen, Pharmacist, who spoke at our last Lyme Support Meeting and has done specials with KSL Studio 5 Health News if she will contact KSL and see if she can do a special on Lyme Disease.

I have heard from 3 people since the Lyme Picnic was cancelled. People had heard about it! They are all in the process of needing help with their Lyme situation.

I encourage everyone to come to next week’s meeting.

Thank you J

Picnic for Lyme Disease Awareness Month

Dear Lyme Friends,

Due to the terrible weather that is on the forecast for tomorrow, the Lyme Awareness Picnic is postponed. It’s suppose to get down to 33 tonight and only a high of 54 tomorrow with 60% chance of rain. Cold, wet weather doesn’t mix well with Lyme patients.

We are looking at warmer dates of June 26th & July 10th and will keep you posted on that. We are even looking into holding it at Thanksgiving Point or Noni Gardens. Anyone with personal contacts with Thanksgiving Point?

We are so sorry for the inconvenience. It was a tough decision to make. Everything was in place and ready to go. Please pass the word on to your friends, facebook, neighbors and any you might have invited to this event.

The good news is we’ll have more time to get the word out and also get some media coverage.
I made a big push the last couple days with the media and it paid off. Tomorrow morning on the FOX13 Morning Show they will be interviewing Jenny Bezzant, Mrs. Utah 2010, a Lyme Sufferer. She will be talking about the Lyme Awareness event coming up, Jim Matheson and legislation, and about Tick testing. The interview will take place about 8:15am…so tune in!

We’re especially grateful for the response of those that volunteered: Entertainment; The Wildflowers, Carl Boyd, Haley Hendrickson, Educational Speakers; Victoria Sucher, ND, Todd Cameron, ND and Sheryl Seliger and those who provided donations; Harmon’s, Arby’s, Janey Lou’s, Crystal Hegemann, Kristen Molen, Lyme Disease Association, Nancy Licari, Virginia Bryson, Marilyn & Charles Aiken, Carmel Temptations, Lance Fletcher and our T-shirt sponsors; NeatSheets and PetroChem Insulation, Inc.
A BIG thank you to all of you!! [My apologies if I forgot anyone]

Keep educating those around you about Lyme Disease and we’ll look forward to getting together in the coming weeks.

Visit http://www.lymediseaseeducate.blogspot.com/ for further updates. Our Non-profit status is coming along and we’ll be using Utah Lyme Disease Association [ULDA].

Any questions or concerns, please call me.

Thank you,
